Pike's Peak, Colorado

I'm going to put up some of the "tourist" pictures of Pike's Peak in this posting and will work on putting up the more scenic photos I attempted.

Visiting Colorado

I came out to Colorado for a conference specifically for Air Force Public Affairs Reserve members. This has been an opportunity to meet new individuals in my career field who are a part of the traditional reserve units, IMAs (like me), and full-time Reserve individuals.
We received a lot of great briefings that has me leaving with some good take-aways and some new things to consider as I work towards determining the path I want to take with my Air Force career.

I was also able to use the time out here to visit with a friend I met when I first joined the Air Force as she and her husband moved to Colorado Springs. They will be working and supporting different aspects of the U.S. Air Force Academy.

It was wonderful to see them and meet their son for the first time. He was born the week AFTER I visited with them in Florida last year. :)

I also had a fun time playing "tourist". I went to the Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, and took a tour of the Air Force Academy.

Here are some pictures from Garden of the Gods...I'll be posting more later:

Figs & Monkey's

There is a monkey at the zoo who is off exhibit becuase she is old and sadly has cancer. However she is well taken care of, gets lots of attention, and even gets treats.

I have a fig tree growing between my back yard and my neighbors. So I talked to one of the keepers and found out that Sylvia (the monkey) loves kiwi and would probably like fresh figs. So I got permission to bring some in and give them to her.
Boy - did she LOVE them!

She gobbled up both figs quickly - though on one she did not eat all the fruit/skin - I don't think that little section was 100% ripe. I love how animals know stuff like that.

I love how she is using only her feet and her tail to support her in both pictures :)

Book List

I saw this on a blog I read and thought I would continue…Apparently, the Big Read (a program of the National Endowment for the Arts) guesses that the average adult has only read six of the top 100 books on this list. Nonetheless, it's a fun list! I've read 29 of them.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read. (I'm including any books I've started but haven't finished.)
3) Underline (or mark in a different color) the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your blog so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)"
